BMW TwinPower Turbo engines in the BMW 1 Series 3-door.

Thanks to BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, the innovative new generation of BMW petrol engines from the BMW EfficientDynamics engine range can deliver an agile performance and excellent responsiveness even at low revolutions per minute, all while being exceptionally fuel efficient and low in emissions.

The efficient BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engines are characterised by agile power delivery at low engine speeds.

The 3.0-litre M Performance TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine combines a TwinScroll turbocharger with Valvetronic, Double-VANOS and High-Precision Injection. This collection of intelligent innovations lowers the combined fuel consumption rate of the BMW M135i with 8-speed Automatic Transmission Steptronic to just 7.5 litres per 100 km with CO2 emissions of 175 g/km. It delivers impressive performance figures of 240 kW (326 hp), a maximum torque of 450 Nm and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.9 s. The top speed is 250 km/h.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engines guarantee maximum driving pleasure thanks to agile power delivery and outstanding responsiveness at low rpms, all while being exceptionally fuel efficient and low in emissions.

The 4-cylinder petrol engine is a superb example of modern engine production. To enhance dynamics and efficiency, BMW uses TwinPower Turbo technology with Valvetronic fully variable valve control including Double-VANOS variable camshaft control and High-Precision Injection. This allows the engine to operate as economically as possible under any circumstances, thus lowering fuel consumption. This engine is part of the EfficientDynamics range and generates an output of 100 to 160 kW (136 to 218 hp), torque of 220 to 310 Nm and, for example, accelerates the BMW 125i with 8-speed Automatic Transmission Steptronic from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. Combined fuel consumption of this vehicle is 6.5–6.3 litres per 100 km with CO2 emissions of 151–148 g/km.

The next level of driving pleasure and efficiency has been reached, as demonstrated by the innovative 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which shares the same DNA as the multi-award-winning BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine. This new generation of engines from the BMW EfficientDynamics engine range is characterised by markedly more agile power delivery and outstanding responsiveness even at low engine speeds, while being fuel efficient and low in emissions. Its awe-inspiring sound also makes the BMW even more enjoyable to drive.

This innovative powerhouse, a milestone in the BMW EfficientDynamics strategy, uses BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable valve control including Double-VANOS to enhance efficiency and dynamics.
